HISTORY OF EXCEL OF THE RAINBOW FISH: COUPLES

In 1997, several couples who had participated in Excel weekends attended an Excel in Couples weekend in Houston, and decided to try to form a couples team.  The first weekend was presented in 1998 at Bethany Retreat House in Athens, GA.  The weekend was quite successful, and at the ATG that year, the Rainbow Fish team was authorized to continue to present this Excel program.  However, following this it turned out to be difficult to schedule another weekend, and due to circumstances, the original team disbanded.

In January of 2007, the format of the Couples Excel was shared with the Rainbow Zebra team during a team retreat.  Members of ERZ who were in coupled relationships were given an abbreviated experience of the weekend activities, and other team members served as “Friends”.  The weekend was enthusiastically received, and two couples from Rainbow Zebra decided to reactivate the Rainbow Fish program.  They presented their first weekend in February of 2008, and their second in August of 2008.  Both weekends were highly successful, and Couples Excel of the Rainbow Fish plans to continue to present weekends, using the facilities of Miller Commons at Camp McDowell.
